Laughter and Happiness
LAUGHTER... the best and most enjoyable medicine!!
In July 2007 I trained to be a Laughter Leader and now run laughter sessions locally.
The sessions encourage laughter in everyone. They include movement, breathing, clapping and playfulness and can facilitate huge amounts of spontaneous laughter of all types.
Fake laughter sends a strong message to the unconscious mind and even if it isn`t authentic to start with, wonderful endorphins (feel good hormones) get released and soon your whole body can feel the benefits.
Laughter is also good for:-
- Circulation
- Exercising the heart and lungs
- Oxygenating the blood
- Cleansing the body of stale toxins
- Experiencing JOY and HAPPINESS
- Encouraging a positive outlook
- Giving a different perspective
- Expression and creativity
- Linking the left and right brain
- Strengthening the immune system
- Breaking down barriers
- Reducing stress
- Improving communication
- FUN!!!
Laughter is also universal - you can laugh in any language!
You can also laugh for no reason!
Yes, strange but true - laughter is a skill that can be trained and once you have mastered the basic principles your resistance to laughter will lower... resulting in more smiles, grins, chuckles, giggles, snorts, peals and cackles !! Just imagine...

HAPPINESS
Many areas of the media will lead you to think that happiness is outside of us, it is to be bought, chased, pursued, aspired to and searched for.
I am of the belief that happiness lies within all of us. I believe that things can encourage us to be happy but they cannot ' make' you happy. Happiness felt from external things is often short lived and transient.
True Happiness, I believe, is inside, we just can't feel it at times.
That doesn't mean it's not there.
Robert Holden, in his book 'Happiness Now' reminds us of everyday happiness:-
“It is a way of travelling,
not the final destination.”
All very well, I hear you say, but I cannot afford to be happy, I have too many demands, too many responsibilities, too many worries, too many unhappy memories, too many challenges, too much sorrow.
Laughterlines Coaching is all about supporting people to find the happiness within, to develop self awareness and self acceptance as well as taking positive action for the future.
| "We see things not as they are, but as we are" Immanuel Kant |
In order to move forwards in our lives and to savour the moments each day, we need to accept ourselves, love ourselves, honour ourselves and then we can be free.
